The best beaches to visit on the Gold Coast

Searching for the best beach on the Coast? Whether you’re here on holidays or just want to explore some new spots on the weekend, we’re here to give you our favourite family-friendly beaches to  enjoy a day in the sun. As one of the most beautiful places in Australia, the Gold Coast is home to some truly amazing stretches of sand and water, peppered with hidden treasures and local favourites. From tourist attractions and local hot spots to blissfully secluded pieces of paradise, take a read of our favourite Gold Coast beaches and what you can look forward to at each one!

Gold Coast Beaches

Nobby’s Beach:

Commonly known as ‘Nobbys Beach’ by Gold Coast locals. Nobbys beach is a long stretch of beach that is much less touristy than Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach. If you’re looking for a day by cute cafes and edged with a beautiful headland, then Nobbys Beach is a great beach to go and visit with the kids. If you find yourself wanting to explore away from the water, the headland has a great short walk with views that are going to blow you away.

Tallebudgera Creek:

Tallebudgera Creek, also known as ‘Tally,’ is a beautiful estuary located on the other side of Burleigh Hill. Being nestled in behind the gorgeous headland, Tally gets no waves although it converges with the ocean just a hundred metres or so downstream. Tally is undoubtedly the best place for kids to swim in still water while still being patrolled by lifeguards. The gentle water is surrounded by the tropical headland linking through to Burleigh Heads via a gorgeous bush track. If you decide to do the headland walk, it will take you over to Burleigh Beach where you will find lots to see and do, including surf clubs, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Rainbow Bay:

Rainbow Bay is a great beach if you are looking for a full day trip with the family. The area has 4 different beaches, all situated right next to the NSW border. Here you will find Kirra Beach, Greenmount Beach, Rainbow Bay and Froggies. You can spend the entire day at Rainbow Bay and Greenmount Beach, using the headland to walk between the two. This walk has spectacular views, especially on a hot, summery day. Greenmount is closest to local venues where you can find a place to sit or grab a bite to eat. If you continue past Rainbow bay, you will find Froggies Beach, an ocean pool and if you continue up the footpath, you will come to the NSW border with views overlooking the entire Gold Coast.

Surfers Paradise:

If you’re looking for a good Gold Coast beach, I’m sure you’ve heard of Surfers Paradise. This tourist attraction is jam-packed with restaurants, shops, buskers and the beautiful beach front. It also has markets on every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night. On the school holidays, you will  find lots of activities and things to do throughout Surfers. It is a great place with lots of things to see and do with the family!
